Julian, CA.

If you enjoy authentic blues and southern food, then head on up to the Julian Delta Blues Festival in the historic mountain town of Julian.  The festival features old fashioned blues, fried catfish, southern BBQ and unique merchandise, etc.  The town of Julian has a rich African American history as numerous settled there in the 1870s.  In fact, the town was developed after Fred Coleman, an African American, struck gold there in 1869.

Julian is located about 60 miles northeast of San Diego.  From the San Diego area, take I-8 East to 79 North.  From the north county area of San Diego, take I-78 East.  From the Riverside area, take I-15 South to I-78 East.  From the Los Angeles area, take I-5 South to I-78 East.

The event is free to the public (a donation of any amount will be accepted) and held in the cozy settings of the Julian Town Hall Building located at 2129 Main Street; Julian, CA.  92036.    A southern lunch along with southern iced tea is served during the festival from 11am-4:30pm.  The lunch is reasonably priced.  The complete menu will be posted at the site.

For additional information on the festival call the festival hotline at (619) 685-7215 or (619) 232-1480 or email us  letter@julianblackhistoricalsociety.org
